Mount Baden-Powell is an iconic Southern California hike named in honor of the founder of the Boys Scout movement, Lord Robert Baden-Powell. As scouters, this hike is especially meaningful to us. Crew 606 youth and Advisors completed the challenging 8 mile hike and was rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding Angeles and San Gabriel mountain ranges. At the top, Crew President, Thomas, proclaimed, "we were able to conquer the mountain." It wasn't an easy hike for sure!! The youth had to deal with the cold temperatures, gusty wind, and a small amount of snow and ice on the trail. Regardless, Tyler said it best, "The hike was really fun and pretty." Enzo, added "you can see really far away." Nicholas also enjoyed the hike and stated that “the hike was really nice and the view of the distant mountain was breathtaking.” The crew enjoyed a nice lunch while soaking in the beautiful views. According to Crew Advisors, Ms. Fukushima and Ms. Duong, "there's nothing like a hot cup of coffee on the top of the mountain." After lunch the crew headed back down the mountain at a brisk pace, completing the hike and earning the Mt. Baden Powell HAT Award. Great job Crew 606!! Until next time...

"Vision is a doable dream, a distant goal that’s worth pursuing because it involves growth and success and provides the binding energy to bring a team together to accomplish great things." "Values are those things that really matter to us." Planning -- Without a plan, a successful Kodiak is impossible. With the help of the youth guides, Yasmin and Justin, the participants took ownership of their crew-based trek and started the planning process. They first elected their trek lead, Thomas, who is also the Crew President. N...
